We build our studio one piece at a time from project to project, but with the bigger picture in mind. The DVDxDVD studio is more than just a location to keep and use our equipment; it is a place where we let our creativity have free rein and where we develop our most successful projects! Our studio is where the magic takes place and ideas emerge. Multimedia project development is a very personal encounter for us, and our studio helps facilitate that creative experience.
A studio is an artist’s workroom. Depending on the project, our studio transforms into shops for various purposes: for scrapbooking, photography, graphic design, cinematography, animation, radio or television broadcasting, or the making of music.
We own all the equipment we use, and it is very important for production. It allows for much better understanding of the engineering philosophy behind the equipment and results in much better care for it. It does make a difference if the project is filmed, recorded, and produced with nice new tools or with second-hand rented gear. It inevitably shows in the final quality of the production. We trust many operations to advanced technologies. At DVDxDVD we use automatization and robotization and delegate tedious routine tasks to robotic solutions as much as the current stage of technology allows. That frees us up for more creative endeavors and keeps costs low.
Since late 2007 all our projects have been captured in full 1080 High Definition only.
The word studio is derived from the Italian: studio, from Latin: studium, from studere, meaning to study, or zeal.
The French term for studio, atelier, in addition to designating an artist's studio is used to characterize the studio of a fashion designer. We haven’t done any fashion design so far, but atelier also has the connotation of being the home of an alchemist or wizard. In some sense that description fits us!
As an audio/video recording studio, DVDxDVD specializes in complete pre- and post-production stages for musical and/or video recordings (after the initial, first/rough draft or mix recording is complete). Our routines include but are not limited to: editing, mixing, video post-production and audio mastering, to production of a finished version ready for broadcast, replication and digital distribution. As a complete music production facility, the DVDxDVD mastering studio uses different types of equipment and tools like: a frequency spectrum analyzer for accurate frequency band measurement, a phase scope to gauge stereo depth, various synthesizers and processors, etc. We own a complete automatic room-tuning setup that allows us to compensate for a variety of acoustic conditions.
We own a complete duplication and replication facility in Chicago so we can control the finest details of quality, design and distribution. Because we are in complete control of all pre-production, production and post-production processes, manufacturing and distribution workflow, we can guarantee the best quality, fastest turnaround terms and, naturally, the most reasonable costs.
We operate both small and large studios, and both are located in downtown Chicago. Our studios feature:
